Our Dental Hygienists not only carry out scale and polish treatments to ensure teeth are thoroughly cleaned, but also apply preventative materials to the teeth and gums, and advise on diet and individual home care regimes.

We strongly recommend that parents and guardians introduce children to the experience of going to the dentist at an early age – and then continue to bring them along to the practice as they grow for regular check-ups. This enables us to monitor the progress of their teeth as they grow and take prompt action where necessary.

Dental cleaning is a simple procedure performed by our Hygienists to reinforce good oral hygiene, tartar and plaque removal as well as teeth scaling. A basic hygiene appointment, or scale and polish, is used as a preventive method by our dental team in both Benson and Kingsclere.

Tooth Fissure Sealants or dental sealants coat and protect your teeth from surface attack. They are applied to all the little grooves and fissures often present in teeth, usually on the biting surface where decay starts first. 

There are a number of reasons why tooth extraction may be needed. A common reason involves a tooth that is too badly damaged, from trauma or decay, to be repaired. Other causes include A crowded mouth, wisdom teeth or periodontal disease.

Gum disease or periodontal disease is the infection of the tissue that surrounds and holds your teeth in place. The first stage, gingivitis, involves swelling and reddening of the gum tissue. The second, periodontitis, can mean the gums actually pulling away from teeth, bones deteriorating, and teeth loosening and potentially falling out.
