Teeth Whitening

Professional Teeth Whitening | Oxfordshire & Hampshire

Having straight teeth is one thing, but nothing compares to the appeal of having a set of perfect pearly whites. Our teeth undergo a lot of abuse from our daily drinking and eating habits, red wine, tea and coffee staining subject them to everyday hardships.

One of the quickest and most effective ways to improve your smile is through teeth whitening. Not only do whiter teeth look healthier but it is also a sign of youthfulness- just one hour in the dentist’s chair is the ultimate trick to looking younger.

At our award-winning dental practices in Benson & Kingsclere, we offer advanced teeth whitening treatments to give you the stunning smile you deserve.

This simple, effective and pain-free cosmetic dentistry process helps remove stains caused by coffee, tea, red wine, cigarettes and the natural ageing process.

What Is Teeth Whitening?

Teeth whitening is a harmless and effective way to improve the aesthetic look of your smile. It is a treatment which involves bleaching your teeth to make them lighter and appear shinier.

As teeth whitening can permanently alter the structure of your teeth, it should only be undertaken following a proper assessment by a registered dentist as not everyone is a suitable candidate for teeth whitening.

Following those absurd TikTok home whitening videos is not the way to achieve the polished white teeth you are dreaming of! In fact, it will likely cause much more harm than good and can cost you far more in the long run to put it right.

How Do Teeth Whitening Treatments Work?

Professional Teeth whitening treatments contain a powerful concentration of Hydrogen or Carbamide peroxide. These bleaching agents oxidise in the mouth to break down and remove surface stains from the tooth enamel, quickly and safely and always effectively. In essence, the tooth is whitened from the inside out, brightening both the enamel surface of the tooth as well as the inner layer of dentine. This method guarantees vast improvements in colouration and long-term results.

Delivery of these bleaching agents tends to be in the form of a gel, which is applied in a custom-fitting tray, usually over a period of 14 days.

The trays are uniquely manufactured to fit your mouth thanks to 3D digital scans. This ensures that the whitening product is applied directly to the tooth area while protecting the gums from sensitivity and irritation. After a period of home use, you will return to your dentist who will deliver a booster finishing treatment which completes the process.

What About Over The Counter Whitening Kits?

DIY home kits may be a cheaper alternative to professional teeth whitening, but they are far less effective. All DIY home teeth whitening kits can only contain a maximum of 0.1% hydrogen peroxide (the active ingredient used in most teeth bleaching gels).

However, professional dentist kits like the ones we offer here at Imogen Dental legally contain a maximum of 0.6% hydrogen peroxide, hence why our treatments are more effective, providing you with brighter professional results that you won’t get using home DIY kits.

Also, the mouthguards provided by the home DIY Kits may not fit properly causing the bleaching gel to leak out onto your gums and into your mouth, causing blistering and sensitivity. Also, Teeth whitening carried out in beauty salons by untrained staff or staff without dental qualifications put your oral health at risk.

LUMIWHITE Teeth Whitening System

LUMIWHITE Teeth Whitening is a luxurious, professional, teeth whitening system developed by UK dentists. With Day and Night teeth whitening options available, the LUMIWHITE product range consists of a truly premium LUMI LUXE KIT and LUMI LITE.

At Imogen Dental, we can professionally transform your smile with the Lumiwhite teeth whitening range, starting from only £300.

BlancOne Teeth Whitening System

Thanks to the BlancOne technology, whitening becomes a cosmetic treatment available to all, with excellent results in as little as 10 minutes.

The BlancOne cosmetic treatments are as effective as the traditional ones with higher concentrations, but they are faster to perform and do not cause sensitivity.

They are easy to apply thanks to the lack of protective dams and they give you the incredible chance to combine them with the hygiene session.

How Long Do Teeth Whitening Treatments Last?

Teeth whitening can last for up to 3 years, although this depends on your individual circumstances. If you are a smoker or drink lots of stainable liquids (such as tea and coffee), it is not likely to last as long.

To ensure you’re doing all you can to prolong the amazing results once you’ve left the surgery. If you do practice the correct aftercare, your teeth whitening should last its course.

In addition to good oral hygiene (brushing and flossing twice a day), we also recommend avoiding the following if you want to prevent any damaging stains:

  • Tea and coffee
  • Red wine and sugary soft drinks
  • Tomato-based sauces
  • Vinegar
  • Smoking

How Much Do Teeth Whitening Treatments Cost?

The cost of teeth whitening depends entirely on the type of treatment you choose and how discoloured your teeth are to start with. Our teeth whitening treatment kits start from £300 and we are an official provider of the highly regarded LUMIWHITE® teeth whitening solution and the new innovative BlancOne® teeth whitening solution. The price of your treatment will be explained to you during your initial appointment and you can also find information on this on our Fee Guide page.
